The FAU Owls and Charlotte 49ers begin their final season in Conference USA when they square off in Boca Raton on Saturday. FAU and Charlotte both will be moving to the American Athletic Conference in 2023 after having been in C-USA since 2013 and 2015, respectively. The Owls and 49ers sported identical records last year, going 5-7 overall and 3-5 during conference play. Kickoff from FAU Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

The Owls are 6.5-point favorites in the latest FAU vs. Charlotte odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total points scored is 59. (See the latest college football lines for all of this week's games on our college football odds page.)

Before you consider your Charlotte vs. FAU picks or college football predictions, you need to see what the SportsLine Projection Model has to say.

The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every FBS college football game 10,000 times. Over the past six years, the proprietary computer model has generated a stunning profit of almost $3,600 for $100 players on its top-rated college football picks against the spread. It also finished the 2021-22 college football season on a 43-31 run on all top-rated college football side picks. Anyone who has followed it has seen HUGE returns.

The model knows FAU has won three straight meetings with Charlotte and owns a 5-2 record in the all-time series. The Owls cruised to a 38-9 victory at Charlotte last season as quarterback N'Kosi Perry threw for 225 yards and three touchdowns while running back Jimmy Ford ran for a TD and also hauled in a scoring pass. Perry and Ford both were in their first year at FAU after transferring from the University of Miami and South Florida, respectively.

The model also knows Charlotte was one of the worst teams against the run in the nation last season, allowing an average of nearly 205 yards per game. Last year's loss to the Owls was no exception as the 49ers yielded 202 yards on the ground while gaining only 77. Charlotte had success through the air in that contest, with quarterback Chris Reynolds throwing for 219 yards and a TD while wide receiver Victor Tucker made six catches for 105 yards.

Now the model has simulated FAU vs. Charlotte 10,000 times, and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning Under on the total, and it also says one side of the spread hits more than 60% of the time. You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in your own picks.
