The running back position is not only the highest-scoring flex position in Fantasy, it's also the most fragile and scarce. There are only a handful of true difference-makers at the position each year, and historically we have seen a substantial dropoff in scoring after the top 8-12 producers at the position. Well, considering that most Fantasy leagues have at least 8-12 teams, it should come as no surprise that RB is a highly sought-after position -- so much so, that every year we see undeserving backs pushed into the "RB dead zone" in Rounds 3-6, simply because there is a need for running backs. Just about any running back will do -- they don't have to be good. We just are uncomfortable with a roster that has just one -- or dare I say it, zero -- running backs on it.
From the dead zone to Zero-RB, to Hero-RB, one thing is clear -- the Fantasy community is enamored with the running back position.
