The days of three-down workhorse running backs dominating the fantasy leaderboards are long gone. While the few remaining bell-cow backs do still score the most points, more NFL teams are employing committee backfields, and that approach has had major implications on the fantasy landscape.

After the first round of nearly every draft, the handful of three-down running backs are gone and fantasy managers must employ different strategies to compile the best roster. Having knowledge of each NFL squad's backfield can be a huge competitive edge towards finding value throughout the draft.

Here are the top 10 committee backfields in the NFL in 2021 and how fantasy football fans should be prepared to attack or avoid those teams this summer.

    Buffalo Bills

Over the last three seasons, the Bills have called a pass play on 69.9% of their plays, which is the second-highest rate in football. With that increase in aerial emphasis, Buffalo won't produce a reliable weekly fantasy running back.

Both of Buffalo's backs are undersized and put up quite similar numbers a year ago. Devin Singletary got more touches but was out-snapped by Zack Moss in six of Buffalo's final eight contests.

Moss also outscored Singletary 5-2 and the coaches seem to prefer Moss in short-yardage situations as well. That gives Moss a better chance to lead this 1-2 backfield in fantasy points, but as long as QB Josh Allen starts, neither back will be a reliable scorer.

View Moss as the more valuable fantasy target due to his lower ADP and seemingly entering his sophomore season with momentum.

SportsLine Fantasy expert Jody Smith, who has finished atop Fantasy Pros' seasonal accuracy rankings and contributed to many fantasy publications in his career, pegged Antonio Gibson as an upside play when breaking down 2020's top committees and labeled Jonathan Taylor a star in the making. A year later, Taylor is being selected in the first round of most Fantasy drafts following a huge rookie year while Gibson is coming off an 11-touchdown season and a popular early-round target.
