Everton hosts Chelsea on Saturday, the first full day of 2022-23 English Premier League action, and both teams look to start on a high note. Chelsea finished third in the league last season (21-11-6) but had a tough offseason that included the sale of the club and some key player departures. The Blues also added some talent, so manager Thomas Tuchel will be looking to bring the team together quickly. Former Chelsea star Frank Lampard took over as Everton manager in January and managed to keep the team from being relegated for the first time in its history. The Toffees finished 11-6-21 but had a win and a draw in its two matches with Chelsea.
Kickoff in Liverpool, England is set for 12:30 p.m ET. Chelsea is the -175 favorite (risk $175 to win $100) in the latest Everton vs. Chelsea odds from Caesars Sportsbook, with Everton the +550 underdog. A draw is priced at +285, and the Over-Under for total goals scored is 2.5. (For more soccer coverage, click here.)
Before you lock in your Chelsea vs. Everton picks or English Premier League predictions, you NEED to see what proven soccer expert Martin Green has to say.
After working in the sports betting industry for several years, Green became a professional sports writer and handicapper and has covered the game worldwide. Since then, his European soccer picks have been spot-on. Green has generated almost $35,000 for $100 bettors since the 2017-18 season, and he has his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.
Green knows the Blues have been one of the league's best teams defensively for several years, but he is also aware that they lost some talent in the back. They did bring in Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and speedy forward Raheem Sterling adds to an attack that should also feature Mason Mount and Kai Havertz. Sterling scored 23 goals for Manchester City last season, while Mount led Chelsea in goals (11) and assists (10). Timo Werner is nursing a hamstring issue and could be moved, so he isn't expected to play.
Green also has taken into account that even though Dominic Calvert-Lewin is injured again, the Toffees have solid pieces in attack and on defense. Everton beat Chelsea 1-0 in the last meeting and is 3-3-2 in the past eight matchups. Demarai Gray (five goals, four assists), Anthony Gordon (four, two) and newcomer Dwight McNeil could trouble the revamped Chelsea defense. James Tarkowski was brought in to lead an Everton defense that also features Yerry Mina. The Toffees conceded 70 goals last season but just 29 at home.
Green has taken an in-depth look at the Everton vs. Chelsea matchup and locked in his best bets. We can tell you he's leaning Under on the goal total. He also offers three CONFIDENT best bets, including one that would pay off at plus money, and has a full breakdown of this Premier League match.
