Cross Country Pick 5 morning line odds: Racing writer has picks, bets for Saturday, April 9

SportsLine horse racing writer Gene Menez, who once cashed for $6,900 on Kentucky Derby Saturday, has analyzed Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5 at Aqueduct and Keeneland

World class racing takes place around the country on Saturday, and the Cross Country Pick 5 begins with the Shakertown Stakes at 4:30 p.m. ET and ends with the Gazelle Stakes. Before making any Cross Country Pick 5 picks, you'll want to hear what SportsLine senior writer Gene Menez has to say.

A former reporter and editor at Sports Illustrated, Menez covered an array of sports, including horse racing, for the magazine and its website for almost 14 years. Between 2010 and 2012, he served as SI's handicapper for the Triple Crown races and correctly predicted Super Saver to win the Kentucky Derby in 2010. In 2015, while writing for Sports on Earth, Menez accurately gave out the superfecta (American Pharoah, Firing Line, Dortmund and Frosted), which paid $1,268.20 for $2. Then in 2017, he tweeted out his Kentucky Derby picks, including Always Dreaming to win, and hit the Pick 4, which paid almost $6,900 on a $1 bet.

And on Jan. 1 he nailed the late Pick 4 at Gulfstream Park, which paid $462.

Now, Menez has handicapped the Cross Country Pick 5 at Aqueduct and Keeneland for Saturday, made his picks and formulated his bets.

We can tell you that Menez is high on Venti Valentine, the 7-5 favorite in the Gazelle, the final leg of the Cross Country Pick 5. "Her win in the Demoiselle Stakes may be better than it looks on paper, and her last win in the Busher was ultraimpressive," he says. "A repeat of that effort should be enough to win on Saturday." Venti Valentine is Menez's pick in the Gazelle and the only horse from the race on his tickets.

In addition, Menez's is high on a huge double-digit long shot on Saturday! Menez says this "crazy long shot" is "bred to love the distance" and could spice up the Cross Country Pick 5. Menez is using this long shot on his tickets, and so should you. You NEED to see his analysis before making any Cross Country Pick 5 selections.

So which double-digit long shot can win? And how has Menez constructed his Cross Country Pick 5 tickets? ... Join SportsLine now to get the Cross Country Pick 5 selections for Saturday, all from the racing writer who hit the late Pick 4 at Gulfstream on Jan. 1 for $462!
