Cowboys vs. Eagles betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for NFL Week 7 Monday Night Football
Can Tanner McKee save the Eagles' season? One team will be 2-5 after Philadelphia hosts Dallas on Monday Night Football

NFL history is littered with anonymous backup quarterbacks making a name for themselves by replacing an injured starter and leading their team to the playoffs. Is Tanner McKee capable of that for the Eagles? Perhaps we get a definitive answer on Monday Night Football to conclude Week 7 when Philadelphia hosts Dallas in a less-than-appealing matchup of 2-4 NFC East teams. It's a typical 8:15 ET kick, with both ESPN and ABC showing the game.
The Cowboys and Eagles are both massive TV draws, so I'm not saying this would have been flexed anyway, but MNF games can't be changed until Week 12 regardless. This is only the fourth meeting between the clubs with both at least two games under .500 in the Super Bowl era (since 1970) and first since 2020.
The incredibly mediocre NFC East is still quite winnable for Monday's victor. The Commanders aren't even a factor in the division race, and the East-leading Giants are now on their third starting quarterback already -- although they did improve to 4-1-1 with Sunday's upset in Houston. But it's not like these teams don't each have a gaping question: For Dallas, it's defense, and for the Eagles, it's McKee.
Might the Eagles look at the trade market with Jalen Hurts out for the season? It probably depends on how the team fares under McKee in the next couple of games. For what it's worth, the SportsLine Projection Model forecasts Hurts as 1.0 points over a league-average QB and worth 5.5 points more than McKee, who fell to 1-2 in his NFL career as a starter with the 25-14 home loss to Carolina in Week 6. The other QBs on the roster are rookie Cole Payton and former Cowboy Joe Milton.
Philadelphia had a season win total of 10.5 in the preseason that has cratered to 5.5 at DraftKings, while the model has it winning 6.7 games. To make the playoffs, the Eagles are currently given a 17.5% shot (pretty much will be NFC East title or bust) that drops to 11.0% with a loss but rises to 28.5% with a win. The swing is even bigger for Dallas because it's favored and given a 61% shot via the model of winning the game. Currently, the Cowboys' playoff chances are 29.0%, and that would rise to 35.6% with a win but cut in half to 14.4% with a loss.
