Seattle Mariners at New York Yankees (-160, 9.5): 7:05 p.m. ET
The Yankees start to July was rough, with the Bronx Bombers dropping six straight games. However, New York has now won two in a row after defeating Seattle 10-3 on Tuesday.
If the Yankees' winning streak is going to reach three, they will need a big effort out of Cam Schlittler in his MLB debut. New York is dealing with injuries to its rotation and promoted Schlittler to the active roster. The 24-year-old started 14 games in Double and Triple A this season, posting a 3.52 ERA.Â
The Mariners counter with Logan Evans. It's a rare time when Evans will be considered the veteran in a pitching matchup this season. Like Schlittler, Evans is a 24-year-old rookie, although he has started eight games this season. Evans has been a pleasant surprise for Seattle, posting a 2.96 ERA and allowing three runs or less in five of eight starts.Â
Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres (-140, 8): 9:40 p.m. ET
The Padres evened their series with Arizona after winning a pitcher's duel Tuesday night, 1-0. It was the second time in the last three games that the Diamondbacks were shut out.
Brandon Pfaadt gets the call for Arizona. It's been a rough stretch for Pfaadt. The Diamondbacks have lost his last four starts, and in those outings, Pfaadt has allowed 13 runs over 21 innings. Things might not get any better for Pfaadt on Wednesday. San Diego's current lineup is hitting .349 in 86 career at-bats against him.Â
The Padres give the ball to Dylan Cease. Cease has gotten lit up in his last two starts, allowing 13 hits and eight runs in 10 innings of work. Cease has had success against Arizona in his career, holding current Diamondbacks batters to a .211 average in 71 career plate appearances.Â
