Belmont morning line odds: Racing insider offers picks for the late Pick 4 on Sunday, Oct. 3
Sharp handicapper and Beyer Speed Figure maker Bob Weir has had multiple five-figure days at the track and crushed the exacta in the Tampa Bay Derby in March for $1,414. Now he targets the late Pick 4 on Sunday at Belmont Park
World class thoroughbred racing takes place at Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y., and on Sunday the late Pick 4 begins with Race 7 at 4:10 p.m. ET and ends with Race 10. Before you make any picks, you NEED to know how racing insider and accomplished horseplayer Bob Weir has handicapped the four-race sequence. (Check out all of SportsLine's horse racing coverage.)
Saratoga Springs-based racing insider and Beyer Speed Figure maker Bob Weir has studied the races and formulated a Pick 4 ticket in his analysis below. A two-time qualifier for the prestigious National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas, Weir has produced multiple five-figure days at the track over the years, including a $60,000 Pick 6 at Del Mar in 2014. This year, he has been on fire. He hit the exacta in the Sam F. Davis Stakes, Tampa Bay Derby and Peter Pan Stakes, the trifecta in the Risen Star Stakes, Blue Grass Stakes and Pennsylvania Derby and the superfecta in the Belmont Stakes. Those are just some of his scores in 2021.
Sunday's Pick 4 sequence features two stakes races -- the Grade 3 Waya and the Grade 1 Frizette. The Waya is a turf race at a 1 3/8 miles for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up. The Chad Brown-trained My Sister Nat is the formidable 1-1 favorite, but she is winless in her last seven races. However, those defeats all came in Grade 1 and Grade 2 races, and she arguably takes a significant drop in class on Sunday.
In the other stakes race, the Frizette, Echo Zulu is another formidable favorite, at 3-5. This 2-year-old daughter of Gun Runner already is a Grade 1 winner, having won the Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga last month. She faces eight challengers, led by the Todd Pletcher-trained Jester Calls Nojoy.
Weir has handicapped the late Pick 4 at Belmont Park for Sunday, made his picks and constructed his tickets.
We can tell you that Weir is high on Echo Zulu, the 3-5 favorite in the Frizette Stakes, the third leg of the Pick 4. "It's hard to make a case against Echo Zulu, who has not been challenged in her first two starts, including the Grade 1 Spinaway in her last start." Weir says. Echo Zulu is Weir's top pick in the Frizette Stakes and a lone A horse on his Pick 4 tickets.
In addition, Weir is high on a long shot on Sunday! Weir says this horse "could take them a long way" and could spice up the Pick 4. Weir is including this long shot on his tickets, and so should you. You NEED to see Weir's analysis before making any Pick 4 selections.
