Team USA's April Ross and Alix Klineman take on Switzerland's duo of Anouk Verge-Depre and Joana Heidrich on Wednesday night in the women's beach volleyball semifinals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Ross looks to add to her medals haul after winning silver at the 2012 London Olympics and bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics when she was paired with other teammates. Verge-Depre and Heidrich are looking to pull off yet another upset. The duo stunned Brazil's Rebecca Cavalcanti Barbosa Silva and Ana Patricia Ramos 21-19, 18-21, 15-12 in the quarterfinals.

First serve is set for 7 p.m. ET. Klineman and Ross are listed as the -275 favorite in the latest 2020 Tokyo Olympic women's beach volleyball odss from Caesars Sportsbook, while Heidrich and Verge-Depre are the +200 underdogs. Before you make any 2020 Olympics bets or Tokyo 2020 predictions, be sure to see what SportsLine Olympics expert Mike Tierney has to say. (To keep up with how the Americans are faring at Olympics 2020, check out our medal tracker)

A national sportswriter whose work appears in The New York Times and Los Angeles Times, Tierney has covered nine Olympic Games in person. For Rio in 2016, Tierney profited big-time. He told readers to bet Over on Team USA's gold-medal count (41.5) and Over on Team USA's overall medal count (102.5). The result? 46 golds, 121 medals and two easy cashes.

And for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Tierney hit two of his three predictions: Germany (+200) to win the most gold medals and the United States winning Under 10.5 gold medals (+110).

Now, Tierney has analyzed Wednesday's women's beach volleyball semifinal from every angle to help bettors cash in at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. (Head over to our 2021 Olympics page for more analysis and updates)

He has identified an X-factor that has him jumping all over one team on the money line. You ABSOLUTELY need to see what he has to say before locking in your picks.

    Tierney's pick:

    Women's beach volleyball semifinals
April Ross and Alix Klineman (USA) vs. Anouk Verge-Depre and Joana Heidrich (Switzerland)

    Ross-Klineman (-250)

It was more than the Tokyo heat. The American duo had to sweat out a quarterfinal win over a German pair by scores of 21-19, 21-19. However, the semis opponent poses less of a threat. Verge-Depre and Heidrich were not even Switzerland's A-team, having entered at steep odds of +1,400 and as the 12th seed. Ross-Klineman comprised the premier U.S. pair from the outset, primarily tracing to the experience of Ross. At 41, she hopes to round out her Olympic medal collection (silver in 2012, bronze in 2016) with gold. She and Klineman took the only previous meeting with the Swiss tandem three years ago. Yes, the Americans are a tad short at -250. Still, they are unlikely to be severely tested again until the finals.
