A.J. Brown projections 2022: Fantasy stats, betting odds, Philadelphia Eagles player profile, season outlook, simulations

Acquired in a blockbuster draft night trade, Brown gives the Eagles the franchise wide receiver they've been seeking

One of the most shocking moves on NFL Draft night in April was the Titans' decision to trade young superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown to the Eagles for first- and fourth-round picks. Seemingly no NFL experts saw this as a possibility. Brown was handsomely rewarded after the trade, receiving a four year, $100 million deal from Philadelphia.

The former Ole Miss standout developed into one of the elite possession receivers in the league during his three seasons in Tennessee despite having missed a combined six games the last two seasons.

In 2021, Brown averaged nearly five receptions on eight targets per game though, his yardage and touchdowns slipped a bit from the 1,075-11 he posted in 2021.

While Brown's presence enhances quarterback Jalen Hurts' value in real life and fantasy football, there's no guarantee the star WR's numbers will increase significantly. Tennessee was 31st in pass/run ratio in 2021 (49.3%), trailed only by Philadelphia (47.3%). With competition for targets coming from last year's first-round wide receiver Devonta Smith, tight end Dallas Goedert, and a stable of pass-catching specialist running backs including Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell, 100+ targets for Brown is likely but far from a certainty.

While he will likely be drafted in the first five rounds of standard and PPR drafts, Brown should be considered a fringe WR1 / WR2.
