2026 NFL futures: How the loss of Jalen Hurts affects the Eagles' projections and the NFC East race
The loss of Hurts for the rest of the season is a killer for Philadelphia, but SportsLine's Forecasting & Projections say there is one silver lining

The loss of quarterback Jalen Hurts has turned the Philadelphia Eagles' season from bad to worse—maybe much, much worse, according to the SportsLine's Forecasting & Projections.
According to multiple reports on Monday the Eagles quarterback will miss the rest of the season. In a joint statement with Hurts' agent, Nicole Lynn, the team said what was initially diagnosed as a superficial blood clot in his left leg was found to actually be a deep vein thrombosis, as well as blood clots in his lungs. The team said it expects Hurts to make a full recovery, but while he is being treated with blood thinners, he will not be allowed to participate in any contact activities.
And now the loss of Hurts has massively changed the calculus in the NFC East.
