2026 Fantasy Football wide receiver rankings: Four playmakers have good arguments for No. 1 spot

The core of most Fantasy football teams in the modern era of the game is the wide receiver position, with formats that award points for receptions often making the top players at receiver a priority over even the best running backs in many years. There's an argument in 2026 for prioritizing one or two running backs ahead of the top receivers but either way, those in one-QB leagues that count receptions should be prepared for receivers to fly off the board quickly.

Puka Nacua was the best receiver in Fantasy last year, averaging 23.4 points per game, but he's not necessarily a shoo-in to be the top receiver taken this year. Ja'Marr Chase has such a strong record of excellence as well as as high a ceiling as anyone that he could end up being the top player off the board. There are other names to consider for that top spot as well, including Jaxon Smith-Njigba after a breakout 2025 that included a league-leading 1,793 receiving yards and nine 100-yard performances.

Those are going to be the top three receivers on most cheat sheets for 2026 Fantasy football drafts, but I have one more player that makes it into Tier 1 of my 2026 Fantasy Football running back rankings, and I'm even taking him over one of the big three.
