After a wild winter, the 2025 MLB season is just around the corner. The New York Mets undoubtedly made the move of the offseason when they signed Juan Soto to a record-shattering contract, swiping the superstar outfielder from the crosstown Yankees. Soto could very well be the offensive force the Mets need to get over the line, as he'll slot in alongside the recently re-signed Pete Alonso and an ascendant Mark Vientos in the engine room of the offense in Queens.
The Yankees pivoted by adding two former MVPs -- Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt -- and signing Max Fried, who will form a 1-2 punch atop the rotation with Gerrit Cole. They also traded for closer Devin Williams. Elsewhere in the AL East, the Boston Red Sox inked Alex Bregman and traded for White Sox ace Garrett Crochet.
Of course, the Los Angeles Dodgers weren't idle after winning the World Series. The juggernaut in Chavez Ravine added two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell to the rotation, along with Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki. Elsewhere in the NL West, Corbin Burnes shocked the sport by signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and the San Francisco Giants landed shortstop Willy Adames.
With all of these moves and a swath of talented prospects ready to reach the big leagues, Major League Baseball should be as exciting as ever. There's no shortage of bets to make with games just around the corner, with the Cubs and Dodgers playing a two-game series in Japan on March 18-19 and the rest of the league opening on March 27.
