Experiencing the most heartbreaking major loss in his career at Pinehurst No. 2, the four-time major champion plans to tee it up — as of Monday morning — and hopes to enter the winner's circle for the third time this year. Update: McIlroy withdrew on Monday evening.

Former tournament champion Xander Schauffele continues his solid play fresh off a top-10 finish at the U.S. Open and his good friend, Patrick Cantlay, appears to have found something in his game with a podium result. Tony Finau shared bronze honors with Cantlay and continues to piece his game together while Viktor Hovland, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Max Homa all search for a bounce-back performance this week in New England.
