This year's rookie class should be brimming with impact talent. One of the stars of last year's World Series, Evan Carter, still technically has rookie eligibility due to how short his big league tenure was before the playoffs began. We all saw how well Carter played for the Rangers, and he'll now have a full season with a starting job in the Texas outfield. Joining him soon will be Wyatt Langford, the fourth overall pick in last year's draft. Even some of the best college players take years to climb through the minor leagues, but Langford should be clobbering baseballs in Arlington in short order.

The Orioles, already chock full of young talent, should be welcoming shortstop Jackson Holliday to Baltimore this season. The top prospect in the sport will join Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson and the rest of the Baltimore youth movement in causing problems for the AL East.

In the National League, all eyes are on Japanese ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto, one of the Dodgers' nine-figure acquisitions this winter. Yamamoto isn't just the favorite for the NL Rookie of the Year Award -- he's also expected to contend for the league's Cy Young Award. Further north, outfielder Jung Hoo Lee is already lighting it up in spring training. In Milwaukee, toolsy top prospect Jackson Chourio has already signed a sizable extension and is expected to start the season as the team's center fielder. And in Pittsburgh, flame-throwing Paul Skenes, the first overall pick of last year's draft, is expected to debut sooner rather than later.

All of this is to say that this year's Rookie of the Year favorites are the favorites for a reason. The 2024 rookie class (including a handful of players not even mentioned above) will likely have a heavy impact on the sport for years to come. While there's plenty of value on both odds boards, the chalky picks certainly look appealing this year.
