The regular season is behind us and the playoffs have officially arrived. The 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship will welcome the top 70 players from the regular season for a no-cut event with huge stakes. Leading the way are the usual suspects in Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy, but those near the bottom of the year-long standings are those who draw the most intrigue.

Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Min Woo Lee and defending FedEx Cup champion Viktor Hovland all fall outside the top 50 that advances to the BMW Championship by week's end. With defending champion Lucas Glover unable to qualify for the postseason this year, Hovland has the only chance to defend his FedEx Cup Playoff events, but in order to do so he will need a big week in Memphis.

Hovland has just one top-10 finish this year — the PGA Championship — and must rediscover his game quickly. While the Norwegian has not been able to enter the winner's circle, that's about all Scheffler has done. Now with seven victories under his belt, the world's No. 1 golfer has a chance to reach 10 — yes, 10 — wins in 2024 should he run the table in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Hoping to stop this Scheffler's charge are players who have yet to win this season like No. 4 ranked Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg, Patrick Cantlay, Sungjae Im and Tony Finau.
