The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup kicks off Thursday with co-host New Zealand taking on Norway in the opener at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand. The Norwegians are two-time European champions and won the 1995 World Cup and the gold medal at the 2000 Olympics. New Zealand have been to six World Cups, never advancing past the group stage, but are six-time Oceania Football Confederation Nations Cup champions. The teams are in Group A along with the Phillipines and Switzerland.
Kickoff is set for 3 a.m. ET. Caesars Sportsbook lists Norway as -380 favorites (risk $380 to win $100) in the latest New Zealand vs. Norway odds, with New Zealand the +950 underdogs. A draw is priced at +420, and the over/under for total goals scored is 2.5. (For more soccer coverage, click here.)
Before you lock in your Norway vs. New Zealand picks or FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 predictions, you HAVE TO see what soccer bettor Jon "Buckets" Eimer has to say.
Eimer is a high-volume bettor who has vast knowledge of leagues and players across the globe. Since joining SportsLine, he has covered the English Premier League, Serie A, the FA Cup and much more. Since the end of last year's World Cup he has been red-hot, going 165-148-8 for a profit of $2,682 for $100 bettors. Anybody following him is WAY up.
Eimer knows the Norwegians have been a much more successful side and can rack up goals. They also face a New Zealand side that has never a won a World Cup match. The co-hosts have posted just one clean sheet in their 15 Women's World Cup matches. Caroline Graham Hansen (44 international goals) and Ada Hegerberg (43) both are lethal scorers, and captain Maren Mjelde (165 caps) will keep the young defense on task.
Eimer also is aware that New Zealand will be motivated to open their World Cup on a positive note in their national stadium. The fans will be on their side, and they face a Norway team that has struggled to defend. Norway have conceded 10 goals in six matches in 2023. The midfield features three players with at least 125 caps, and the defense has three with at least 90. They battled to a 1-0 loss to Italy in their final friendly.
For Thursday's match, Eimer has taken an in-depth look at the New Zealand vs. Norway matchup and locked in his best bets. He is taking the Over on the goal total, has another CONFIDENT plus-money play and has his full breakdown of the match. You ABSOLUTELY need to see his picks and analysis before making any selections of your own.
