2022 Wyndham Championship field, odds, predictions: PGA Tour best bets and picks from golf expert who uncovers the long shots
Jim Holliman, who has been around the game for more than three decades and has been nailing his golf picks, offers his winners and long-shot contenders for this week's tournament in Greesboro, N.C.
With the PGA Tour FedEx Cup playoffs starting next week, it's do-or-die at the 2022 Wyndham Championship as a field of unheralded players battles to keep going. The tournament tees off Thursday on a Donald Ross-designed Sedgefield Country Club course in Greensboro, N.C., and gaining points (and a possible victory) will be the goal for everyone. Webb Simpson, the 2011 Wyndham champ, is 117th in the standings and is among those trying to stay in the top 125 to qualify next week's St. Jude Championship. Will Zalatoris is the highest-ranked golfer in the field at No. 14 and will be joined by notable names like , Sungjae Im, Shane Lowry and Rickie Fowler.  Â
Zalatoris (16-1), Lowry (16-1) and Im (16-1) are the favorite in Caesars Sportsbook's latest 2022 Wyndham Championship odds. Simpson (20-1) and Billy Horschel (20-1) also are among the top contenders in a Wyndham Championship 2022 field that has plenty of longshots who could be in the mix.Â
Before you consider any 2022 Wyndham Championship picks or make any PGA Tour predictions, you really need to see what golf expert Jim Holliman has to say.Â
Holliman has been a writer and editor for nearly 25 years and has been playing and following the game closely for more than three decades. The Florida-based writer knows what it takes to win on the PGA Tour and how the players' games fit the courses.
The golf expert whiffed last week in fading Tony Finau for the Rocket Mortgage Classic, as he remained scorching hot and ran away with the victory on Sunday. But Holliman was on runners-up Patrick Cantlay and Cameron Young, and two of his three longshots made the cut. Chris Kirk (55-1) tied for 17th, while rookie Chris Gotterup (80-1) shot 67 on Saturday but finished T-49 at 8 under. Â Â Â Â
Holliman has had a knack for finding the longshots all year. At the 3M Open, he had Finau (12-1) among his picks, but he also tabbed Emiliano Grillo (50-1) as a contender. The Argentinian was right in the mix all week and tied for second. The expert's two other longshots -- Austin Smotherman (65-1) and Hayden Buckley (80-1) -- both finished in the top 26.
At the British Open, four of Holliman's picks finished in the top eight, including Dustin Johnson (35-1) and Tommy Fleetwood (35-1). At the PGA Championship, he touted Cameron Young, who came in priced at 65-1 and tied for third. And at the Wells Fargo, he backed Stephan Jaeger, who tied for sixth as a 125-longshot. Anyone who has followed Holliman's predictions is WAY UP!
Now, Holliman has released his confident 2022 Wyndham Championship picks. SHOCKINGLY, the golf expert is fading Zalatoris, who struggles to hit the fairway and has even more trouble making putts. That's not a recipe for success at Segefield.Â
Instead, the golf expert is touting a MASSIVE long shot who comes in at 100-1! This golfer is deadly accurate with every club in his bag aside from the putter. If he gets that going, he could pull off a STUNNING result, and anyone who backs this underdog would cash in HUGE!
