2022 John Deere Classic field, odds, predictions: Best bets and picks from golf expert who seeks the PGA Tour long shots

Jim Holliman, who has been around the game for more than three decades and has been nailing his golf picks, offers his best bets and winners for the 2022 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The 2022 John Deere Classic provides a big opportunity for some of the PGA Tour's young players and grinders to pull off a victory. The tournament tees off Thursday at TPC Deere Run, and the field is one of the weakest of the season as the top players prepare for next week's Scottish Open and the Open Championship at St. Andrews the following week. The John Deere 2022 field is headlined by players like Webb Simpson, Jason Day, defending champion Lucas Glover and three-time winner Steve Stricker, the runner-up at last week's U.S. Senior Open. Sahith Theegala, who just missed out on his first PGA Tour win in last week's Travelers, will try to get one this week.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Simpson as the 10-1 favorite in its latest 2022 John Deere Classic odds. Adam Hadwin is priced at 16-1 and Theegala is 22-1. Every other golfer is 25-1 or longer, including Day (28-1), Glover (45-1) and Stricker (65-1).

Before you consider any 2022 John Deere Classic picks or make any PGA Tour predictions, you HAVE TO see what golf expert Jim Holliman has to say.

Holliman has been a writer and editor for nearly 25 years and has been playing and following the game closely for more than three decades. The Florida-based writer knows what it takes to win on the PGA Tour and how the players' games fit the courses.

Before last week's Travelers Championship, the expert had Xander Schauffele among his best bets and also backed 45-1 Brian Harman. "He will win again soon, maybe this week," Holliman said of Schauffele. The 28-year-old Olympic champion birdied the final hole after Theegala posted double-bogey. It was Schauffele's first individual PGA Tour win since 2019. Harman shot 66 on Sunday to tie for eighth.

Holliman also seems to have a knack for finding diamonds in the rough. At the Charles Schwab, he had both winner Sam Burns (28-1) and Davis Riley (45-1) among his contenders. And before the PGA Championship, he touted Cameron Young, who came in at 65-1 and tied for third.

At the Wells Fargo, he backed winner Max Homa (40-1) and runner-up Keegan Bradley (35-1), and even had Stephan Jaeger (125-1) among his contenders as the German tied for sixth. Anyone who has followed Holliman's predictions is WAY UP!

Now, Holliman has released his confident 2022 John Deere Classic picks. SHOCKINGLY, the golf expert is fading Day, even though he has won 12 times on tour. The 34-year-old hasn't played this tournament in more than a decade and didn't perform well even in his prime. "There's no reason to think he can truly contend," Holliman says.

Instead, the golf expert is touting a long shot who comes in at around 50-1! This player has missed a lot of cuts this year but also has some impressive finishes. He has posted consecutive very low scores at Deere Run and could pull off a SHOCKING victory! Anyone who backs this underdog could cash in HUGE!
