Belgium hope to cash their ticket to the knockout round but could face a test Sunday when they take on Morocco in a Group F match at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Belgians fought off a tough Canadian team in their opener on Wednesday, taking a 1-0 victory to sit atop the group. Morocco played to a 0-0 draw with 2018 World Cup runner-up Croatia, so the rest of the group is scrambling for points. Belgium lost to France in the 2018 semifinals, their best World Cup finish in 13 previous appearances. The Moroccans finished last in their group in 2018, their fifth appearance, and have not been past the Round of 16.
Kickoff is set for 8 a.m. ET at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, Qatar. Belgium are -101 favorites (risk $101 to win $100) in the latest Belgium vs. Morocco odds from Caesars Sportsbook, with Morocco the +295 underdogs. A draw is priced at +230, and the over/under for total goals is 2.5. (For more soccer coverage, click here.)
Before you lock in your Morocco vs. Belgium picks or FIFA World Cup 2022 predictions, you need to see what SportsLine soccer insider Brandt Sutton has to say.
Sutton, a former collegiate soccer player, has been SportsLine's top soccer editor for more than five years. He has followed soccer closely for much longer and factors in managerial tactics, projected lineups and past performances to make the most informed decisions possible, keeping his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.
Sutton also has been on a roll with his best bets, going 151-114-1 over his last 266 soccer picks in 2022, returning more than $2,300 for $100 bettors!
Sutton knows Belgium are the world's No. 2 team and will want to go ahead and secure a spot in the next round. They were No. 1 for almost three years before losing their spot to Brazil, but they don't have much to show for it. Stars Kevin De Bruyne in midfield and Thibaut Courtois in goal are among many players with World Cup experience, and Michy Batshuayi scored his 27th goal in 54 matches with Belgium on Wednesday.
Sutton also knows Morocco are nearly impossible to score on. They were the only African team to win every game in qualifying, outscoring their opponents 20-1 in six matches. They knocked off Congo 5-2 on aggregate to secure their spot. Morocco were 2021 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinalists, and Chelsea's Hakim Ziyech (18 international goals), and Sevilla's Youssef En-Nesyri (15) can provide fireworks on the offensive end.
Sutton has taken an in-depth look at Belgium vs. Morocco, and he is leaning Under the goal total. He also has locked in two CONFIDENT best bets, including one that returns plus money, while offering a full breakdown of this Group F match at the 2022 World Cup. You ABSOLUTELY need to see his pick and analysis before making any selections of your own.
