2020 NFL Draft: Clemson receiver Tee Higgins to Buffalo Bills? Or a Top-10 pick?
Where will Clemson receiver Tee Higgins be picked in this month's NFL Draft? William Hill has a few props on him.
On the CBS Sports Big Board for the 2020 NFL Draft, Clemson receiver Tee Higgins is ranked as the No. 26 overall player and No. 4 wideout behind Oklahoma's CeeDee Lamb (No. 8 overall), Alabama's Jerry Jeudy (No. 12) and the Tide's Henry Ruggs III (No. 14). William Hill sportsbook offers a couple of interesting props on Higgins for the draft. He is +1200 to be picked in the Top 10 and +400 to be selected by the Buffalo Bills.
It won't be both things unless the Bills make a trade because they already dealt away their first-round pick (No. 22 overall) to the Minnesota Vikings for receiver Stefon Diggs – which obviously lessens Buffalo's need for a receiver a bit. The team's first pick is No. 54 overall in Round 2.
Doesn't seem likely that Higgins will still be on the board then. Higgins has ideal size for a receiver, listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. Last year for the Tigers, he caught 59 passes for 1,167 yards and 13 touchdowns. The touchdown receptions were the second-most in school history behind the 18 by current Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins of the Arizona Cardinals (when that trade from the Houston Texans becomes official).
Higgins finished his Clemson career tied for the most receiving touchdowns in school history (27) with Hopkins and Sammy Watkins. Higgins scored a touchdown on 20 percent of his catches in his career.
The last Clemson receiver to go in Round 1 was Mike Williams to the Chargers at No. 7 overall in 2017. If Higgins is a first-round pick, he would be the fourth Clemson wideout to do so in the past eight drafts. Before that stretch, only three went in Round 1 all-time. Oddly, three of the school's past six first-round receivers were selected by Buffalo: Watkins at No. 4 overall in 2014, Jerry Butler at No. 5 in 1979 and Perry Tuttle at No. 19 in 1982.
NFL.com gives Higgins a grade of 6.45, which equates to "boom or bust prospect." The site gives him an NFL comp of A.J. Green, who has had a terrific career with the Cincinnati Bengals.Â
