Today's picks: Why to take the Over on Giants-Padres, plus more NFL, college football and EFL Cup picks for Wednesday

Zack is monitoring the line movement on the first NFL game of Week 3, and he also looks at trends involving undefeated teams heading into the third week of the schedule. Allan tells us why we should watch turnover totals closely in the first few weeks of the year. 

The SportsLine Play of the Day is Manchester United to win and score two or more goals at -133 in EFL Cup action against West Ham at 2:45 p.m. ET. 

Allie's featured MLB play is the Giants and Padres Over nine runs at 10:10 p.m. ET. "The last 10 games between these two teams have gone over, and we also have two pretty weak pitchers on the mound," she says, referring to the matchup between Scott Kazmir and Vince Velasquez. "Kazmir started three games earlier in the season but he was moved back to Triple-A, where he had a 4.61 ERA. I don't see him lasting very long or being successful considering he allowed five earned runs in seven innings in those starts."

Zack moves to college football, where he is taking Virginia -4 over Wake Forest on Friday at 7 p.m. ET. The Wake Forest defense will be heavily challenged by Brennan Armstrong. He is a major dual threat who will pad his numbers in this matchup as Virginia earns a long-awaited victory over Wake Forest. 

Allan submits his early pick of the Texans Over 1.5 turnovers against the Panthers on Thursday at 8:20 p.m. ET. Houston is due to lose some fumbles and their rookie QB may throw more than interception.
