Today's picks: Why A's will beat the White Sox, plus more MLB and Liga MX picks for Wednesday, August 18

Larry talks about a Tuesday full of MLB upsets, but points to some trends that still suggest going with some favorites on Wednesday, 

The SportsLine Plays of the Day are spotlighted by the Coach, leading with the Padres and Rockies Under 14 runs at 3:10 p.m. ET. This is a massive over/under to take advantage of. He also features the Giants -140 over the skidding Mets at 3:45 p.m. ET. In Liga MX, he endorses the pick of Club America -110 over Juarez at 10 p.m. ET. 

Zack's featured MLB play is the A's +170 over the White Sox at 8:10 p.m. ET, as he is targeting Lance Lynn. "He's struggled in his most recent home starts and that includes his last outing vs. the New York Yankees in which he gave up four runs," he says. "The Oakland A's have intel on him from his past two years as a Texas Ranger." Zack also notes that Oakland has shown they can quickly rebound from losses. "They've been a good bounce-back team all year. They've only had a four-game losing streak in one instance besides earlier in the year." 

Larry reminds us that one of the most challenging things in sports betting to do is go back to a team that burned you the previous day. But that is exactly what he is doing by taking the Reds -1.5 over the Cubs at 12:35 p.m. ET. The pitching matchup heavily favors Cincinnati.
