Bettor will win more than $300,000 on golf/NASCAR parlay if Chase Elliott wins Geico 500

Denver resident Shea Curran would win "life-changing" money if Chase Elliott takes the checkered flag at the Geico 500 NASCAR Cup Series race on Monday.

It can be very profitable if you listen to the betting advice of SportsLine expert Mike McClure. He has won almost $2 million alone on daily fantasy sports, and last week his model projected that Webb Simpson would win the PGA Tour's RBC Heritage in Hilton Head Island, S.C., over the weekend as well as favored Chase Elliott to win the NASCAR Cup Series Geico 500 at Talladega on Sunday.

Simpson did claim the RBC Heritage on Sunday at Harbour Town with five birdies in a six-hole stretch on the back-nine to shoot a 7-under 64 and edge out Abraham Ancer by a shot. A three-hour storm delay in the area nearly kept the tournament from finishing. Simpson opened it at +3000 to win.

Weather did delay the Geico 500 in Alabama until Monday at 3 p.m. ET. A 32-year-old Denver resident named Shea Curran, a SportsLine subscriber, did take McClure's advice last week -- as well as using his own research -- and parlayed a Simpson victory with an Elliott victory. That wager of $1,003.23 would return $311,001.30 at DraftKings should Elliott pull it out Monday.

"Big cup full of anxiety," Curran said of waking up this morning. He decided not to take the more than $20K cash out from DraftKings – it was "enticing" -- because the $300K-plus is "life-changing money so letting it ride." The coronavirus pandemic cost Curran his job earlier this year. Colorado just launched sports betting in May.

Curran got his betting bankroll started by going to Las Vegas with his girlfriend in March and winning $5,000 at the roulette table. In addition, Curran has already profited nicely from Elliott once, having won $4,000 on him when NASCAR was at Charlotte last month. So what are Curran's plans to watch Monday's race? "Gonna try to get through it. If I come out of this without having a heart attack, I'll be all good."
