These teams played a 99-98 game a couple of weeks ago (Feb 2 to be exact) in Omaha and matchups suggest we'll see some more scoring on Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Creighton has been going "over" consistently (6-1 its last seven) which is no wonder with a potent, multi-pronged offense scoring almost 82 ppg and paced by four double-digit scorers led by ex-South Dakota State wing Baylor Scheiermann (18.3 ppg) and two others (G Trey Alexander and C Ryan Kalkbrenner) scoring better than 17 ppg for an attack that hits a superb 48.9% from the floor (ranks 20th). Butler is 5-2 in their last seven games with the only losses coming by single digits to UConn and Marquette. That stretch included a 99-98 win against Creighton on their home floor in a game that featured Butler taking control of the game in the early second half and defending a narrow lead through the game’s frenetic final minutes. It won’t be easy but Butler is good enough to complete the sweep, and having the home court advantage will help significantly in those efforts. If I think Butler can win straight up, I love the value of more than a position on the spread.
