We're not in the habit of backing Houston Christian, sitting in the lower half of the Southland table. But ever since visiting McNeese won that game at Michigan in late December (in retrospect maybe not such a special feat), Will Wade's Cowboys have tended to be a bit overpriced, especially on the Southland trail where they have failed to cover all five as a visitor. This spread is far beyond and margin McNeese has generated on the road in league play, and hotshot Huskies G Jay Alvarez (14.1 ppg) is off of his highest-scoring game in almost a month when netting 25 in the Saturday win vs. Incarnate Word. McNeese is the Southland leader, but wow big number as Houston Christian isn't that terrible at 4-7 in league play. The Huskies are led in scoring by Jay Alvarez with 16.1 ppg, third-best in the conference. As a team, HCU is fifth in the league in field goal shooting (.435). Michael Imariagbe checks in at 12 points a game and is second in the league in rebounding at 8.7 caroms per night. The past two McNeese State road games have been a loss and a one-point victory. Possible letdown matchup here as well off beating second-place Texas A&M-CC on Saturday.
