A second of a back-to-back for the Wild, though in truth last night in Anaheim looked more like a scrimmage, with Minnesota having to get serious for only about the first eight minutes of the second period to put away the woeful Ducks. The Wild is now bearing down on the last West playoff spot, just three points away (Vegas at moment is the target), and will use a rested Marc-Andre Fleury (1.64 GAA, .936 saves in six March starts) in goal tonight after Filip Gustavsson worked the shutout at Honda Center on Tuesday. Note the back-and-forth Kings have been alternating wins and losses in March (by that, due for a loss tonight). Play Wild on Money Line
Second of a back-to-back for both with neither really having to travel as the Kings were home last night when they spanked Chicago and Minnesota was in Anaheim and routed the Ducks. The Wild remain without one of their top offensive players in Joel Eriksson Ek (60 points) and top-six defenseman Jonas Brodin (23 points) was hurt Tuesday and is out. The Kings are expecting to activate forward Viktor Arvidsson off IR. This has been a lost season for the Swede, but he had 59 points in 77 games last year.
Playoff pushes are real across the league and as a result we've seen most teams tighten up in their own end. Minnesota is the poster child for it and on the second leg of a back-to-back we actually get the goaltender in better form from Marc Andre Fleury. The Kings counter with David Rittich but there's not quantifiable drop-off for me with him and Cam Talbot. LA has rewarded Under bettors going 7-2-1 under the total in back-to-backs; my number on the game is 5.5 Under -114 so slight edge here with goals at a premium
