Quick turnaround from two nights ago at Toyota Center when the Rockets pulled clear to a 117-104 win. Though these quick turnarounds often favor the team that lost the first time, not sure that applies right now to the Grizzlies, who look and play like they're distracted, which they might be as Ja Morant's return to active duty is looming within the next week. Mostly, however, we don't have to worry about picking the Rockets on the road now that they have finally won an away game (at the Nuggets), as Ime Udoka's emerging squad now has the veteran presence with Fred VanVleet and Dillon brooks to stay in the West playoff hunt. Play Rockets
This will be a rematch between the Rockets and Grizzlies, who just played each other Wednesday. In that game, Jabari Smith Jr. produced 20 points and 10 rebounds. The only other time that he has taken on the Grizzlies this season, he finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. He is shooting 49.3 percent from the field and averaging 8.7 rebounds per game, so with the Grizzlies lacking depth up front, I like Smith to have success against them again.
If you're simply looking at box scores it may not appear that Jabari Smith Jr. has made significant strides after what was a solid but not spectacular rookie season. While his scoring average is identical, Smith's efficiency stats have made big leaps and last years third overall pick is shooting nearly 10% higher from the field and almost 7% from behind the arc. Jabari looks a lot more comfortable and it is also worth noting that the team has vastly improved and his usage has decreased as a result of adding veterans like Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks to Houston's roster. Sidenote: I am choosing to play Jabari's PA line here as its identical to his scoring line aside from a few cents.
