Coming off of a five-game homestand in which they went 3-2, the Pelicans will head to Indiana before returning home to play two more contests. They are just 3-7 on the road, including 0-3 in their last three road contests. Across those three games, their average margin of defeat was 12.3 points. Even after the Pacers got blown out by Milwaukee on Wednesday, I like them to cover this small line.
This spread seems a bit small, although the Pelicans are totally schizophrenic as they can look great one night and then awful for a week. History has shown they tend to get blown out the game after a win, though. This is the Pels' first road game since Jan. 23 and they are 2-5 ATS as road dogs this year. Indiana was destroyed Wednesday in Milwaukee, but that was the second of a back-to-back and at least no starters played heavy minutes. The Pacers beat the Pelicans 118-116 in overtime at New Orleans on Jan. 4, but this one won't be that close.
