Cleveland needs to close the chapter on Minnesota emphatically. The Twins are six games back in the AL Central after yesterday's win, ending the Guardians' run of six wins in 10 days against them. Minnesota RHP Sonny Gray pitched great in his last two starts, with the team posting victories in both, but Cleveland has won 12 of RHP Cal Quantrill's last 13 outings and the batters mash for him every time out. Take the Guardians to win.
Cleveland’s right-hander Cal Quantrill is 3-0 with a 3.54 ERA in nine career appearances against Minnesota. He’s also 12-0 with a 2.89 ERA in 41 career games at Progressive Field. Quantrill faces the Twins Sonny Gray who’s 1-0 with a 2.93 ERA in three starts against the Guardians this season. The Guardians hold a 3.11 bullpen ERA, top-three in the AL. Cleveland also owns the third-best batting average over the last seven days, .266, while Minnesota is batting .232. I’m on the Guardians.
I want to get a couple plays in for the day games tomorrow because I won’t be around in the morning. Sonny Gray has been pitching great lately, but he was hit hard in one of his two starts against the Guardians. Cal Quantrill has also been dominant lately going 4-0 with a 2.41 ERA in his last seven starts. He is also 7-0 with a 3.38 ERA at home. The Guardians have the top ranked bullpen in the last 30 days and they gave a couple top players the day off Sunday after the marathon doubleheader on Saturday. I like the Guardians at home to finish the series.
