The A's are truly atrocious but the only time you should slightly worry, I suppose, betting against them is when their most talented pitcher, Frankie Montas, is on the mound as he is here. Montas hasn't been that sharp his past two times out, however, and we know Oakland isn't going to score much because that lineup is laughable. Thus, I think Seattle can win close behind Robbie Ray, who seems to be finding his 2021 Cy Young form with just one run and six hits allowed over his past two starts. Ray doesn't have great road splits but does during the day. I pondered the Under 7, but totals generally treat me like eating month-old cottage cheese. Totals intolerant?
Robbie Ray was struggling badly with a 4.97 ERA until his last two home starts. Against the Red Sox and Angels, Ray threw a combined 14 innings, allowing one run on six hits while fanning 14. Most important, he walked just one batter in each start. I believe Ray is regaining his Cy Young form and will back the Mariners -- who have won eight straight games in Oakland -- at this reasonable price. Oakland is 8-27 at home and owns the worst run differential in the American League.
