Can't say I like a lot on the board today, but it is getaway day for some teams so that may change lineup-wise. Don't really need to see lineups here as just about everything points to the Cardinals: They are obviously home and were off Wednesday, while the Brewers didn't arrive in the STL until late Wednesday night after playing in San Diego. I faded Milwaukee yesterday (didn't work out, but I blame Padres manager Bob Melvin for leaving Yu Darvish in too long) in part because All-Star closer Josh Hader and a few regulars were out, and that I didn't think the club's second-best reliever, Devin Williams, would be available after pitching the previous two games. Well, he did pitch. There's no way he will go a fourth straight night -- still not clear if Hader will return. Milwaukee's Eric Lauer is an excellent starting pitcher, but Adam Wainwright is usually money at home for the Cards. Note that rain may be a factor.
The Brewers are still missing key players in Hunter Renfroe and Willy Adames and they might still be without Josh Hader on the family emergency list. Cardinals are coming off the off day and have their full bullpen available behind Wainwright who is very good at home. Im actually a big Eric Lauer fan but the Cardinals absolutely crush even the toughest lefties as we saw by their performance against Carlos Rodon. Devin Williams has pitched three straight days as the Brewers acting closer so he will be unavailable tonight. Take the Cardinals at home.
