Zack Wheeler is starting to round into the All-Star he was last year. He has allowed just three runs over his last 19 innings while striking out 21. The Phillies dropped the first game of this series after winning three of four games in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. The Padres' Blake Snell makes his first start this season because of an adductor strain. He made three starts in the minors, but I think the Phillies have an edge with a lineup that ranks in the top five versus lefthanded pitchers. I'm on Philadelphia.

Blake Snell will be starting for the Padres and while I usually don’t look into rehab statistics, I do with Snell because I wanted to see if he was having control issues, and he wasn’t. The Padres bullpen is completely rested after piggybacking Mackenzie Gore and Mike Clevinger yesterday. The Padres have been playing really well lately and on this road trip, and the Phillies will be without Bryce Harper again. Zach Wheeler has been much better at home but the Padres have been winning a lot of close, low scoring games lately. That’s exactly the type of game the Phillies have been losing.
