The A’s have some momentum back after winning three straight to make us forget about the four-game losing streak that began last weekend. They’ve shut out the Angels the last two nights and have another strong arm going today with Cole Irvin, who handled the Angels well in his last start against them. Oakland has won seven of his last nine starts. A’s to win.
Much as I hate to agree with Justin Perri, and he has better stats than I do, we are 2-0 on the A's beating the Angels this weekend and see no reason why it won't continue. Oakland pitcher Cole Irvin has actually been a bit better away and has a 3.86 ERA vs. LAA. The Angels' Jaime Barria is essentially an opener. Oakland is simply better across the board. I just see a pretty girl and ask her to skate. No analytics. The Angels aren't pretty right now.
Angels starter Jaime Barria will be pitching for the team for just the fourth time this season. He has an expected slugging percentage of .496 in his limited work at the Major League level, which isn’t good, and he is likely to struggle against a solid A’s lineup. I see Cole Irvin as a pitcher who should be able to keep Oakland in the game; he has only allowed more than four earned runs once all year in 20 starts. I’ll back the A’s to win their eighth straight against the Angels.
