The Reds jumped out of the gate last week with a win on Opening Day, and they haven't won in six games since. In four of those losses, they haven't scored, including the last three. The crazy part is all of the games have been close, and all seven have stayed Under the total. The Pirates' Trevor Williams shut down the Reds last week, and he's 4-0 with a 1.83 ERA in six starts against them.
We've some nice data points to work with here since these teams have already played four games against one another this season, and none have featured more than eight runs scored. The first two games of this series have featured four runs total. The Under has cashed in each game, and it's also 4-1 the last five times they've played at PNC Park, as well as 4-1 in Trevor Williams' last five starts against the Reds.
Pittsburgh's pitching has been tremendous as the Pirates enter Saturday at or near the top of the league in most key statistical categories. The Reds, meanwhile, are 30th in the league in batting average and runs scored. They'll struggle to score in this one. My simulations are calling for a low-scoring game that Pittsburgh wins in 65 percent of simulations.
