I just think this is good value on the Cardinals. Johnny Cueto is making his first start in over two months for the Giants tonight, and I don't expect him to be at his sharpest.
Last night the Cardinals grabbed a nationally televised win over the Diamondbacks. Yet tonight the value is on the Giants and the return of Johnny Cuetto after a long layoff.
Johnny Cueto is finally back after missing two months with a sprained right elbow. He was sensational in his five starts before the injury with a 0.84 ERA and the Giants winning four of them. In two rehab starts at Triple-A Sacramento, he didn't allow any runs. The Giants come off three bad losses at Colorado where they scored only three runs combined which oddly came right after a hitting spree in a sweep at Arizona. The Giants are 20-8 in their last 28 home games and Luke Weaver comes off an awful outing against the Braves where he allowed eight runs. Giants to win.
The Cardinals' Luke Weaver has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his last five starts, including eight in his last start. Weaver's ERA in June was 6.75. Johnny Cueto of the Giants has been off two months because of an elbow strain. Cueto made two starts at AAA with the second one a four-inning stint. There is no doubt Cueto will be on a pitch count, but facing MLB hitters for the first time in two months will be a challenge.
