One of the most heated rivalries in Major League Baseball history reaches a new level Friday as the San Francisco Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of their best-of-five National League Division Series. The long-time enemies, who both reside in the NL West, are meeting in the playoffs for the first time in the 131-year history of the rivalry. First pitch from Oracle Park is scheduled for 9:37 p.m. ET. Los Angeles is the -115 favorite (risk $115 to win $100) on the money line in the latest Dodgers vs. Giants odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total runs scored is 7.5.
Before making any Giants vs. Dodgers picks, you NEED to see what SportsLine expert Larry Hartstein has to say.
Hartstein, SportsLine's senior analyst and an Early Edge podcast regular, is a blistering 86-59 in his last 145 MLB picks, returning more than $1,300. He is also 41-20 in his last 61 MLB picks overall.
In addition, Hartstein has an amazing 35-18 record on his last 53 picks involving Los Angeles, returning more than $1,700. Anyone who has followed him is WAY up.
Los Angeles (106-56) matched the franchise record for regular-season victories but was denied its ninth consecutive division title as it finished one game behind San Francisco in the NL West. The Dodgers avoided a quick playoff exit on Wednesday as Chris Taylor belted a two-out, two-run homer in the ninth inning to snap a tie and give the club a 3-1 victory over St. Louis in the NL Wild Card Game. Los Angeles led the NL in runs (830) and was first in the major leagues in ERA (3.01) while Trea Turner was baseball's top hitter with a .328 batting average.
The Giants (107-55) set the franchise record for wins and needed every one of them to capture their first NL West crown since 2012. San Francisco topped the NL - and was second in the majors - with 241 home runs but will be without team leader Brandon Belt, who had a career-high 29 blasts but will miss the series with a fractured thumb. The Giants were right behind the Dodgers in several other categories, finishing second to them in the NL in runs (804) and ERA (3.24) while also placing second with 1,360 hits and a .249 team batting average.
Now, Hartstein has set his sights on Dodgers vs. Giants. We can tell you he's leaning Under to total and he's also found a critical X-factor that has him jumping all over one side of the money line. You ABSOLUTELY need to see what he has to say before locking in any MLB picks of your own.
