NHL futures: Best bets for the 2027 Hart Trophy
Here's an early look at who can win the award for the NHL's most valuable player in 2027
Only three players in NHL history have won the Hart Trophy more than three times since it was first awarded in 1924. Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid nearly joined that elite group last season, finishing 10 points behind Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the voting.
It marked the second runner-up finish for the award, which is given annually to the league's most valuable player, in McDavid's 11-year career and seventh time he was a finalist. The superstar center, who racked up 138 points in 2025-26 to earn the Art Ross Trophy, won the Hart in 2017, 2021 and 2023.
