In the NFL, big names usually steal the spotlight, but most games are won and lost in the trenches -- where few people look. That's what The Trench Advantage is here for. Each week, I'll walk you through the offensive and defensive line matchups that quietly shape every game.
When I break down each matchup, I evaluate line unit grades, Pass Rush and Pass Block Win Rates for both offensive and defensive lines, and review the latest injury news. I'm also incorporating Rush Block and Rush Stop Win Rates, which I'll highlight going forward. Line chemistry is critical and heavily influences my rankings. If you want an edge when betting, pay close attention to these games.
Here are my top trench mismatches for Week 8. For each, you'll get key stats, tactical insights, targeted betting tips and a confidence rating. My score projections are included and heavily weighted by the model's trench metrics. Confidence is rated from 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest).
Jeff Hochman, who emerged on the sports betting scene in the 1990s and is one of the nation's most respected and selective handicappers today, dives deep into the statistics for every NFL team and developed a system that brings positive results.
