The New York Mets (42-48) return from the All-Star break with a matchup against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers (51-38) on Friday night. New York lost its final two games before the break, but it had won its previous six outings. Los Angeles is on a four-game winning streak heading into the second half of the season, sweeping a two-game set against the Angels last weekend. Veteran right-hander Justin Verlander (3-4, 3.60 ERA) is starting for the Mets, while southpaw Julio Urias (6-5, 4.76 ERA) is taking the mound for the Dodgers.
The game is slated to begin at 7:10 p.m. ET from Citi Field. The Dodgers are listed at -125 (risk $125 to win $100) on the money line in the latest Mets vs. Dodgers odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over/under for total runs scored is 8.5. (see the latest lines for every game on our MLB odds page).
Before making any Dodgers vs. Mets picks, you NEED to see the latest MLB predictions from the SportsLine Projection Model.
The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every MLB game 10,000 times. It went 331-285 on top-rated MLB money-line picks (+357) over the past two seasons. It entered the All-Star break 44-32 (+191) on all top-rated MLB picks this season and has excelled on top-rated run-line picks this season, going 11-2 (+604). Anybody following has seen big returns!
The model knows the Mets are seven games behind San Francisco in the race for the third wild card, so they cannot afford a loss on Friday. They opened July with a six-game winning streak after going 7-19 in June. Verlander allowed two earned runs across six innings against San Diego in his last start, and he is 3-0 with a 2.91 ERA in three career regular-season starts against the Dodgers.
The model also knows the Dodgers closed out the first half of the season with a pair of wins over the Angels to push their winning streak to four games. They are on pace to record fewer than 100 victories for the first time since 2017, but they are still in a virtual tie with Arizona and are positioned to make the playoffs for the 11th consecutive campaign. Urias is coming off a win over Pittsburgh, allowing two runs across six innings.
Now, it has set its sights on Mets vs. Dodgers. We can tell you the model is leaning Under on the run total, and it also says one side of the money line has ALL the value! You ABSOLUTELY need to see it before locking in any MLB picks.
