Rostering a player in your Fantasy lineup dealing with an injury always comes with some risk, so don't make the final call until you see what SportsLine NFL injury analyst Dr. Brandon Bowers has to say.
Dr. Bowers, a Doctor of Physical Therapy currently practicing in the outpatient orthopedic setting on northeast side of Columbus, Ohio, completed his undergraduate work at Siena Heights University. He earned his doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Toledo.
He is currently employed by Athletico Physical Therapy and treats a high volume of high school and collegiate athletes in the clinical setting. He's worked previously for a host of different websites serving as an injury analyst, publishing weekly columns, appearing on podcasts and radio shows to provide injury content.
He's broken down some of the most notable injuries heading into Week 7 and here's what he had to say about Todd Gurley's (quadriceps) outlook.
"On the surface this (quad contusion) is an injury that does not seem like much, however, more severe contusions can be very limiting and significantly impact an individual's ability to play football at an elite level," Dr. Bowers said. "Bruises can occur to both muscle and bone, with bone injuries taking longer to heal than those to muscle. Gurley was able to perform individual drills on Wednesday and was listed as limited on the Rams' practice report. This marks his first practice action since sustaining the injury in Week 5. His status for this weekend against the Falcons is very much in question -- it is likely he is a game-time decision on Sunday. Re-injury risk moving forward is moderate."
Dr. Bowers is also breaking down what challenges Saquon Barkley (ankle) faces as he tries to return to the field, and has an in-depth look at Alvin Kamara's (ankle, knee) injury situation. You ABSOLUTELY need to see his breakdowns before making any Fantasy decisions.
