Fantasy football 2026: Waiver claims to consider following Week 5 NFL slate
SportsLine fantasy analyst Josh Nagel gives his weekly free-agent recommendations for redraft leagues

Four NFL teams are on bye in Week 6 and two of those, the Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions, feature multiple high-profile fantasy football performers who are staples of lineups everywhere and whose presence will be sorely missed this week.
We're at the point in the season in which picking an effective bye-week replacement from the waiver wire can make the difference between winning or losing pivotal fantasy matchups, especially for managers whose teams rate to be fringe playoff contenders.
Below, we will give some recommended waiver wire acquisitions heading into Week 6 of the 2026 NFL season. Many leagues use the Free Agency Acquisition Budget (FAAB) to bid on players and because this is the more standard practice in competitive leagues, we will give our recommendations based on FAAB suggestions. We will also address those who use waiver priority settings. Our advice will cater to full PPR settings, along with 4 points per passing touchdown. For those who use different settings, these suggestions should transfer somewhat laterally, but adjust your rankings as you see fit according to your league's criteria.
Suggested players must have a roster share of 65% percent or less in CBS leagues as of Monday morning to qualify for this piece. All roster percentages will be listed alongside the players.
