The 2023 NFL season is rapidly approaching and, as always, there is widespread attention on the Dallas Cowboys. "America's Team" is a permanent fixture in the news, and the Cowboys are coming off a relatively strong performance in 2022. Of course, that season ended with a playoff loss before reaching the Super Bowl, leaving Dallas without a Lombardi Trophy for almost three decades. Still, the expectations are considerable yet again for a Cowboys team that has clear talent up and down the roster.

On the offensive side, Dak Prescott is the team's centerpiece at the quarterback position, and the Cowboys went 8-4 in the regular season in 2022 with Prescott under center. The veteran threw for 2,860 yards and 23 touchdowns in 12 starts. Prescott has a top-flight No. 1 wide receiver to throw to in CeeDee Lamb. Lamb put up more than 1,300 receiving yards in 2022. The Cowboys also added an intriguing complement to Lamb with veteran Brandin Cooks, who has six 1,000-yard seasons under his belt.

On the ground, Tony Pollard is in line for a larger workload in 2023 after a breakout performance in 2022. The 26-year-old is coming off his first 1,000-yard season, and Pollard averaged 5.2 yards per carry while adding 39 receptions. With a talented offensive line in front, Dallas finished in the top five of the NFL in third down conversion rate and red zone efficiency in 2022, vaulting into the top five of the NFL with 27.5 points per game.

On defense, superstar Micah Parsons leads the way for a group that finished in the top five of the NFL in total points allowed (342) and points allowed per drive (1.65) a season ago. No team forced more turnovers (33) than Dallas, and Parsons finished with 13.5 sacks and 26 QB hits while wrecking opposing game plans on a weekly basis. The Cowboys do face a difficult division slate, headlined by the Philadelphia Eagles, but many are clamoring to see what Dallas can put together as a follow-up to 2022.
