Commanders vs. 49ers betting preview: Odds, picks, props, trends, injuries, weather and more for NFL Week 6 Monday Night Football
Jayden Daniels vs. Brock Purdy is an intriguing QB matchup as the Commanders visit the 49ers on Monday Night Football

Which type of Monday Night Football game will we get to conclude Week 6 when the Washington Commanders (1-3-1) visit the San Francisco 49ers (5-0)? This smells like a potential blowout in favor of one of three league unbeatens remaining, and the first four MNF games of 2026 were the same. But last week's Bills-Rams matchup was an overtime epic. It's a typical 8:15 p.m. ET kick, with both ESPN and ABC showing the game.
It's the first matchup between starting quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Brock Purdy, and they are like oil and water in some ways. Daniels is the mega-athlete dual-threat former top recruit who won a Heisman Trophy and was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. He was a hit immediately, winning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors and leading Washington to a shocking spot in the NFC Championship Game. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant in the 2022 draft who wasn't even supposed to make an NFL roster, and he generally wins with accuracy and intangibles. Now he might win MVP, as he is the +275 second favorite.
Things haven't gone all that great for Daniels and the Commanders since 2024. JD still generally plays at a high level but has trouble staying healthy ... not to mention has occasional brain misfires. How else to explain what happened at the end of Washington's 27-27 tie against the Giants in Week 5? You can't fire your quarterback for making such an egregious end-of-game clock management error, but you can fire your head coach.
Dan Quinn is on a scorching-hot seat right now, and even Micah Parsons, who played for Quinn in Dallas, said last week on his podcast that Daniels probably got Quinn fired with that mistake. Minority owner Magic Johnson even piled on via social media. I will say that it could happen as soon as Tuesday, because the Commanders are on their bye in Week 7. If an in-season change is going to be made, that would make all the sense in the world. Quinn was the +200 favorite to be the first NFL coach fired entering Week 6, but those reset after a Sunday of action and won't be reposted until after this one.
San Francisco's Kyle Shanahan has about the most job security of any coach in the NFL, with his Niners looking like the class of the NFC so far at 5-0; Minnesota is also unbeaten but has looked mediocre at best offensively. This marks the fifth time in the Super Bowl era that the Niners have started 5-0, and they reached the NFC title game in each of the previous four and the Super Bowl in three. They are +580 Super Bowl favorites, +260 leaders to win the NFC, and clear -115 favorites over the Vikings (+300) for the conference's top seed. Circle Week 11, when the Vikings face the Niners on Sunday night in Mexico City.
I often like betting on the last NFL unbeaten prop, and the Niners are +150, Vikings at +185 and Chiefs +220. San Francisco is in a potential Week 7 trap in Atlanta before a bye. Minnesota, off in Week 6, probably wins Sunday vs. Indy but likely loses Week 8 in Detroit. Kansas City is at Seattle and Denver the next two. The model projects the Chiefs at 12.4 wins, the Niners at 12.3 and Vikings 12.0, so that doesn't help much.
