The Holy War has always brought intensity and drama, but this Saturday in Salt Lake City, the stakes are even higher. No. 3 Utah (8-0) and No. 7 BYU (7-1) will meet for the first time as Big 12 rivals, both ranked in the top 10 and dreaming of a College Football Playoff berth.
Utah's new head coach, Morgan Scalley, has guided the Utes to a perfect start, not just in wins but also against the spread. Their defense is as tough as ever, and the offense is firing after putting up 49 points on Cincinnati. Across the field, Kalani Sitake's BYU squad has plenty of motivation, and the Cougars are eager to prove the oddsmakers wrong at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
Utah is favored by 5.5 points, but plenty of fans see this as a toss-up and like BYU's chances as the underdog. Will the Utes' defense and red-zone grit be enough for another big win? Or is BYU ready to shake things up with an upset?
For Week 10, I'm highlighting two system picks, including a particularly strong selection in the Holy War. The picks are based on systems that have delivered a success rate of 62% or higher over a large sample size. I've also rated the picks on a confidence scale from 0 to 5, where 5 means the highest level of confidence. A confidence level of 0 means I like the other side.
I will also share my model's projection, which is a completely separate predictive metric. When my model and the system agree, that selection is more likely to bring home cash. No betting approach is perfect, so please bet responsibly.
