Braves vs. Phillies Wednesday MLB injury report, odds: Ronald Acuña out again, Darick Hall makes big-league debut

We like to inform readers when a team calls up a top prospect and he's going to make his big-league debut. Well, the Philadelphia Phillies have called up slugger Darick Hall from Triple-A, and he's at designated hitter and batting cleanup Wednesday in his debut against the visiting Atlanta Braves, who remain without star outfielder and leadoff man Ronald Acuña. Hall is not a top prospect but has mashed in his career in the minors. (See tickets at StubHub)
When you are 26 years old like Hall, you really aren't a prospect any longer (if you ever were), and he's not ranked among the Phillies' Top 30. Hall, a 14th-round pick in 2016, has hit 20 home runs so far this season in Triple-A with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs and has hit 54 combined home runs across Double-A and Triple A-since 2019. He arguably boasts the best raw power in the Phillies system. He has hit at least 20 home runs in four of his six minor-league seasons.
Hall bats lefty and with Bryce Harper out at least six weeks, the Phillies have little left-handed power other than that offered by Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber has 11 home runs this month, the most in MLB and his second-most ever in a month, trailing only his 16 in June of last year. The big slugger has reached base in 31 consecutive games since May 26, the longest single-season on-base streak by a Phillie since 2006.
The Braves' Acuña hasn't played since fouling a ball off his foot on Saturday. He stayed in Atlanta when the team traveled to Philly early this week so that he could undergo dedicated treatment for his bruised left foot. He might join the club in time for Thursday's game. Acuña is hitting .281 with seven homers, 18 RBIs and 13 steals in 43 games. Shortstop Dansby Swanson is leading off again Wednesday.
Kyle Wright (8-4, 3.18 ERA) is on the mound for the Braves. He is 0-3 with a 5.00 ERA in in four career games, three starts, against the Phillies.
Lefty Ranger Suarez (6-4, 4.23) gets the call for Philadelphia. He is 1-1 with a 4.91 ERA in 18.1 career innings vs. Atlanta. The Braves are 18-8 (.692) against left-handed starters this season, the best such record in the National League, trailing only the Red Sox (13-4, .765) and Yankees (17-7, .708) for the major-league lead.
