The Monday Night Football matchup, if not the overall NFL Game of the Year, arrives to conclude Week 5 as Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills (3-1) visit Matthew Stafford (2-2) and the Los Angeles Rams. Super Bowl 61 is played on Valentine's Day 2027 at L.A.'s SoFi Stadium, and it's quite possible these teams face off again then. It's a typical 8:15 p.m. ET kick, with both ESPN and ABC showing the game. And as you would expect for such a marquee matchup, there's the first ManningCast on ESPN2 since Week 2.
What's not to like about this game? Allen was the 2024 NFL MVP and is the current +300 second favorite via DraftKings (passed slightly by Brock Purdy on Sunday) to win a second, while Stafford was the 2025 MVP to lock down his Hall of Fame resume. He's not winning another at age 38 and has regressed some in 2026. But both quarterbacks could make individual statistical history tonight that I touch on below. Led by them, Buffalo entered Week 5 leading the NFL in scoring offense (31.8 PPG) and Los Angeles was second in total offense (417.0 YPG).
L.A. was the preseason favorite to win the Super Bowl following the additions of former NFL Defensive Players of the Year Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett -- Garrett remains on the injured list. Despite two early losses, the Rams are still +650 favorites. Buffalo is +850, although Rams-Bills is only a +2300 fifth-favorite matchup behind Chiefs-Niners (+1550), Ravens-Niners (+1700), Bills-Niners (+2000), Jaguars-Niners (+2000) and Chiefs-Rams (+2100). It makes sense that unbeaten San Francisco has shorter odds to get there with already a two-game lead in the NFC West over Los Angeles (and Seattle) and an early head-to-head tiebreaker for potential home-field advantage in the playoffs. Rams over Bills in SB 61 is +4900 and vice versa is +5800.
Heading into Week 5, this was to be only the third game in the past 20 seasons between the two current Super Bowl favorites and past two NFL regular-season MVPs after Ravens-Bills (Lamar Jackson vs. Allen) in Week 1 last year, and Ravens-Chiefs (Jackson vs. Patrick Mahomes) in the 2024 Kickoff Game. The home team won both of those in down-to-the-wire, higher-scoring games. But Buffalo barely slipped out of the second-favored SB role on Sunday. Baltimore and San Francisco are there now at +800.
