2025 Fantasy Football bust rankings: Our top 10 picks to disappoint after hitting Marvin Harrison Jr., C.J. Stroud

The term "Fantasy football bust" gets thrown around a lot, particularly during Fantasy football draft season, but what does it mean exactly? In general, we're talking about players who fail to live up to their preseason ranking for draft status, particularly if they remain relatively healthy throughout the season. Marvin Harrison Jr. is a great example from last season, as he was being drafted on average 10th at his position as a second-round pick in most drafts, but he finished well outside the top 20. C.J. Stroud was another 2024 bust, drafted as the QB5 but finishing outside the top 15 by the end of the season.

We had both players on our Fantasy football bust rankings, which takes aim at all the players drafted to be starters on average in 12-team Fantasy leagues (so 12 QBs, 24 RBs, 36 WRs and 12 TEs, avoiding potential flex options) and tries to find the most likely to finish the season worse than twice as low in Fantasy points at their position as their ADP from before the season. So Harrison had to finish 21st after being ranked 10th in ADP, while Stroud's target was 11th or lower as the QB5. One caveat: For anyone ranked higher than 10th, we're looking for five spots lower in their 2025 finish, which means the No. 1 running back would need to finish sixth or worse, for example.

As with our sleeper and breakout rankings, we won't be too hard on ourselves if the players we select fall short of expectations but don't quite meet that level of underperformance, though there is much more room available for busts than there is for players competing for the same limited number of spots high up in the final rankings.
