2024 Carolina Panthers futures picks: Breaking down win totals, Super Bowl odds, schedule, depth chart and more

We start getting you ready for the 2024 NFL season with our early analysis of the Carolina Panthers odds and futures picks

It doesn't get much worse than what Bryce Young had to endure in his rookie season. Faced with a roster bereft of talent on his side of the ball and a coach with whom his skillset was a curious fit, Young struggled to find anything but fleeting success, throwing for more than 250 yards just once all season while basically being in a negative gamescript from training camp on. Frank Reich was let go midseason, and the Panthers headed into the offseason without their No. 1 overall pick due to the deal that brought Young into the fold in the first place.

Not known for having the most patient owner in sports, the Panthers quickly went to work improving the team in the offseason. First, they stayed in division to poach Dave Canales from the Buccaneers to be the team's new head coach following his successful work with Baker Mayfield, who in his offense went from journeyman failed No. 1 pick to career highs in completion percentage, passing yards and touchdowns while throwing just 10 interceptions in 566 attempts and earning his first Pro Bowl bid.

Then, the Panthers went to work on the roster, throwing big contracts at guards Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis to give Young better protection and a more effective run game and upgrading the weapons around him by landing Diontae Johnson and drafting Xavier Legette, which seems in theory like a better idea than leaning on Adam Thielen to be the No. 1 receiver. Young should also eventually have star running back Jonathon Brooks in the backfield to take some pressure off as well. The question is with so many moving parts, can Canales turn this team around immediately and take advantage of a pretty wide-open division to shock the world?
