The United States Men's National Team continue their quest to repeat as tournament champions when they face Canada on Sunday in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup. The Americans (2-1-0) had two convincing victories and a draw in the group stage, while Canada (1-2-0) had to beat Cuba in the finale to advance. They also beat the Canadians 2-0 in the final to win the Concacaf Nations League last month.
Kickoff at TQL Stadium, home of FC Cincinnati, is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. The United States are -170 favorites (risk $170 to win $100) in the latest USMNT vs. Canada odds, while the Canadians are +480 underdogs. A 90-minute draw is priced at +270 and the over/under for total goals is 2.5. (For more soccer coverage, click here)
Before you make any Canada vs, USMNT picks or Concacaf Gold Cup predictions, you NEED to see what SportsLine soccer insider Martin Green has to say.
After working in the sports betting industry for several years, Green became a professional sports writer and handicapper and has covered the game worldwide. Since last year's World Cup, Green has been profitable in multiple areas on his soccer picks, including the Champions League (+4.78 units), the FA Cup (+3.07), the EFL Cup (+3.64), Euro 2024 qualifiers (+3.01) and the Europa League (+1.60).
The expert knows the both teams are missing most of their star players, and the Americans have more quality depth. The USMNT also have a ton of confidence after consecutive 6-0 victories. Jesus Ferreira had hat tricks in both victories, leading an attack missing Christian Pulisic, Weston McKinnie and Gio Reyna. Canada allowed four goals in the group stage against teams with far less firepower, while the USMNT conceded one goal.
Green also is aware that Canada stepped up in their most important match, putting nine of 14 shots on target in a 4-2 victory against Cuba. Junior Hoilett and Jonathan Osorio were among the scorers, and Lucas Cavallini is the team's top international scorer. He has 19 goals in 39 matches, while Hoilett has 15 in 58. Osorio is the most experienced (67 caps), and he has 30 goals and 20 assists over the past six season with Toronto FC.
Now, Green has taken an in-depth look at the USMNT vs. Canada quarterfinal match from every angle. We can tell you he is leaning Under on the goal total and has three CONFIDENT best bets. They include a plus-money play on a goal-scorer, and he also has his full breakdown of this Concacaf Gold Cup quarterfinal matchup.
